USHL Central Scouting Showcase Camps

7 Bridges Ice Arena
Woodridge (Chicago), Illinois

The USHL is the only Tier I junior league in America. In 2006-07, the USHL's 12 member teams produced 172 NCAA Division I college commitments as well as boasting 34 selections in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, including 4 first-round selections.

USHL Central Scouting, like its NHL counterpart, is a league-run scouting service for the benefit of all the teams in the USHL. Throughout the 2007-08 season, the USHL Central Scouting staff of more than 20 members will identify the top players in North America. Upon identification, USHL Central Scouting will invite these elite players to participate in the USHL Central Scouting Showcase Camps, the only camps created specifically for exposure to the USHL.

The Showcase Camps are strategically placed before the USHL Entry Draft, to be held on May 14, 2008, for players in the 1990, 1991 and 1992 birth years. They are designed to give USHL team personnel an "up-close and personal look" at the best playing against the best. Not only will there be games and competition but also the opportunity for USHL teams and Central Scouting staff to put prospects through fitness testing and interviews prior to the league draft. Seminars conducted by USHL and NCAA coaches will also be part of the event.

Cedar Rapids coach and general manager Mark Carlson stated "Cedar Rapids has 4 players that came directly from the USHL Central Scouting Showcase. We had seen Bryce Aneloski, Eric Cinotti, Vince Mihalek and Nick Oddo through the course of the year, but scouting them competing against nothing but elite players, just before the USHL Draft, was the best opportunity for both Cedar Rapids and the players."

The showcase for the 1993 birth year (May 22-25, 2008) will provide USHL teams with the same opportunities of the older birth-year showcases but for younger players who will be featured in the 2008 USHL Futures Draft and the 2009 USHL Entry Draft.

The USHL Central Scouting Showcase Camps are by invitation only and for the best of the best. Players are hand picked from our USHL Draft Lists.

The tryouts for the USHL Showcase Camps are a player's performance through the course of the 2007-08 season, when USHL Central Scouting is out identifying talent. Once a player is identified he will be invited to the Showcase. Invitations will go out the middle of December and continue throughout the 2007-08 season until the end of February. If you have not received an invitation and feel you are worthy of an invitation please contact the Director of Central Scouting, Bob Turow, so he can have one of our central scouting staff members see you perform in person. The registration fee is $335 US.

Application to the USHL Central Scouting Showcase Camps is done on an individual basis. When the camps reach capacity, USHL Central Scouting will divide the players equally into teams coached by USHL coaches and central scouts. If for travel reasons you need to play on the same team with another invited player, we will make the proper accommodations. Teams will consist of ten (10) forwards, six (6) defenseman and two (2) goalies.

As the major supplier of talent to NCAA Division I hockey, the USHL believes the can't miss showcase events of the spring and summer (and the ones we'll be scouting most heavily) are the USA Hockey Select Festivals, the 2nd annual USHL Central Scouting Showcase Camps and the 14th annual Prospects Hockey Tournaments.
