Early indications point to a Black Hawks offense that has dominated teams, including an average 34.33 shots per game, while allowing just 26.33. Waterloo has also outscored its opponents 7-3 combined in the second and third periods, and is a perfect 2-0-0-0 when leading after the second period. Leading that offense is Nick Swaney with four points in three games, including two game-winning goals. The University of Minnesota Duluth commit returns to Waterloo after scoring an impressive 50 points in 54 games last season. Shane Bowers is also finding his offensive touch with three points in three games. The defensive corps is led by Chicago Blackhawks prospect Jake Ryczek and second year defenseman Mikey Anderson. Veteran netminder Robbie Beydoun had an impressive weekend with the Black Hawks that included a 2-0-0-0 start with 1.00 GAA and .967 SV%.

 

7. Sioux Falls Stampede

The Stampede have been led by first year player Austin Albrecht, who also leads the USHL in scoring. The University of Massachusetts commit spent the past two years with the Wichita Falls Wildcats (NAHL) and joined the Stampede after a 60-point season with Wichita. In net rookie Jeremy Swayman has taken advantage early in the season with a .920 SV% and 2-1-0-0 record. The Stampede will rely heavily on their goaltenders this season, as they currently have allowed 41.67 shots per game. Second year forward Eric MacAdams has also supplied a heavy dose of offense with three goals in three games. In total, eight different Stampede players have scored goals including rookie Jaxon Nelson. Sioux Falls has found success by jumping out to leads early, outscoring its opponents 5-2 in the first period. Another early indication of success for Sioux Falls is the 28.6% power play record, which ranks third in the USHL.
