Des Moines is another team that projects to be much better off than their record through the first eight games of the season would indicate. Nicolas Werbik, who was brought over from Youngstown a year after leading the Phantoms in scoring, is right back to his old ways. The Czech forward has been a strong offensive contributor again this season, as he is atop the Buccaneers scoring list with eight points (3G, 5A) through eight games. He has recorded at least one point in seven of those games and is on pace for another extremely productive campaign. November's schedule could be promising for Des Moines as they look to climb up the Western Conference standings. Of the eight games the Buccaneers play, six of them (4 vs. Fargo, 2 vs. Tri-City) are against teams ahead of them in the standings.

Following a hot 3-0-0-0 start, the Stars have come back to the pack a bit in the last two weeks, but they will look to get back to their winning ways of their first three games. The key in those victories was the defense and goaltending, as Lincoln did not allow more than two goals in any of their wins. A big part of that success was goaltender Tomas Vomacka, who gave up four combined goals in those three victories. The Nashville Predators prospect is aiming to make that early success the norm throughout the course of the season and certainly looks to have the tools to do so. Rookie forward Devlin McCabe has also been a bright spot, leading the team and tied for third among all rookies with seven points (2G, 5A) in seven games. Lincoln only plays six games this month, which should give them ample opportunity to be rested and ready to go all throughout November.
