Fargo may appear at the top of the standings, but it’s Tri-City that has the most wins and highest win percentage in the USHL. Detroit Red Wings prospect Filip Larsson joined Team Sweden for the World Junior Championship for the majority of December, and Jake Barczewski filled in valiantly. The uncommitted goaltender went 2-2-0-1 in five starts, including his first career shutout against Dubuque. Tri-City has become known for their defense this season, and recently added NHL Draft eligible Tyler Madden to the forward group. Madden has three goals in his first three Storm games, and leads all Tri-City players with 17 points in 21 games. The Northeastern commit ranks third in USHL rookie scoring and will play in front of a home crowd at the 2018 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.

Despite losing the top scorer in the USHL, Fargo maintained a respectable 5-2-1-2 record over their last 10 games and sit atop the league standings page. While the team was able to scrap together wins without Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup, his linemates Griffin Loughran and Grant Herbert will be excited to see the Great Dane return. They combined for one goal and an assist in Schmidt-Svejstrup’s absence. William Fallstrom has picked up his play during the month of December with seven points in eight games, and will hope to continue to contribute offensively during the new year. Goaltender Strauss Mann turned in one of the best performances during the month of December, recording a .942 SV% and 1.83 GAA. The Michigan commit is 9-2-1-1 this year.
