Fargo became the first USHL team to advance to the second round after defeating the Omaha Lancers in the best-of-five series 3-0. Fargo advances after beating Omaha in overtime on Sunday night 4-3. Andy Taranto not only scored the first goal of the game, but added the winner at 4:47 of overtime to seal the victory.
Fargo enjoyed a successful regular season during their first year in the USHL and now have kept that momentum into the playoffs as they have eliminated the defending Clark Cup champions. Andy Taranto led the Force scoring multiple points in each game of the series, finishing with six points (5g, 1a) over the three games.
Fargo will play the winner of the Lincoln and Sioux Falls series which is currently tied 1-1. That series resumes on Tuesday in Sioux Falls.
