The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders gained an important road victory in a pivotal Game Three defeating the Indiana Ice 4-3 in overtime.
Indiana jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first period, but Cedar Rapids exploded for three goals in the second period to take the lead. RoughRiders defenseman Darren Rowe scored two goals in a span of 1:44 during the period. Indiana managed to tie the score late in the third on a power play, sending the game to overtime. Zach Lehrke gave Cedar Rapids the win by scoring his first goal of the playoffs at 9:33 of the extra session.
Cedar Rapids now leads the best-of-five series 2-1 and the teams will face-off again in Indiana on Friday for Game Four.
The Green Bay Gamblers closed out their series with an 8-2 victory over the Waterloo Black Hawks in Game Three. Waterloo had the upper hand early in the game building a 2-1 lead, but Green Bay turned on the offense with special teams play scoring three times on the power play and twice shorthanded. Reed Seckel and David Makowski each scored a pair of goals for Green Bay as 11 different players registered a point for the Gamblers.
Green Bay now awaits the winner of the Cedar Rapids vs. Indiana series. Clark Cup playoff action resumes on Friday with two games on the schedule.
