Country music star Dierks Bentley helped the Waterloo Black Hawks prepare for their Friday night game against the Tri City Storm this morning at Young Arena
Bentley, a big hockey fan who follows the Nashville Predators and plays in a recreational league, skated with the team in full gear for about 45 minutes, joining the Hawks in a scrimmage. Currently on tour in Iowa, Bentley travels with his own hockey gear. After the pregame skate, most of the Black Hawks and even a few Tri City players who stuck around after their morning workout, stood in line for pictures and autographs.
"The funny thing is I'd like to get these guy's autograph as much as they'd like to get mine," said Bentley. "I'm a huge fan of hockey, and these guys are so accomplished…I'm trying to bring hockey and country music a little closer."
With five #1 hits under his belt and over five million albums sold since 2003, Bentley's latest release is Feel That Fire. His single, I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes, is currently #11 on the Billboard Country Music charts.
