USHL Players to Represent USA in Europe

A total of five players who spent the 2009-10 season in the USHL have been named to the 2010 U.S. Under-18 Select Team that will compete at the 2010 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament from August 9-14 in Breclav, Czech Republic and Piestany, Slovakia.

Among the 21 players selected to represent the U.S. at the tournament are forwards Seth Ambroz (Omaha Lancers), Cason Hohmann (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), and Theo DiPauli (Chicago Steel), along with defensemen Brian Cooper (Fargo Force) and Connor Murphy (Team USA).

Ambroz posted 49 points (22g, 27a) in 56 games to help the Lancers finish on top of the West USHL Division.  He was also selected to participate in the 2010 USHL All-Star Game.  Hohmann scored 36 points (9g, 27a) in 58 games for the RoughRiders and ranked third on the team in assists during his first season in the League.  He recently finished third overall in scoring at USA Hockey's Select 17 Player Development Camp.  DiPauli collected 11 points (6g, 5a) in 46 games for the Chicago Steel.

Cooper tallied 13 points (3g, 10a) in 55 games for the Fargo Force and added four assists to help the club reach the Clark Cup Finals.  Murphy appeared in two USHL games this past season for Team USA's U-17 squad.

In addition, five other players on the U.S. Under-18 Select Team are currently on the protected lists of USHL teams;

Chris Bradley (D), Youngstown Phantoms

Alex Broadhurst (F), Green Bay Gamblers

John Gaudreau (F), Dubuque Fighting Saints

Sean Kuraly (F), Indiana Ice

The 2010 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament will feature eight countries separated into two groups. Group A (Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, United States) will play its preliminary games in Breclav, Czech Republic, while Group B (Canada, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland) will play its preliminary games in Piestany, Slovakia.
