What were your thoughts when you found out you were the first pick in the USHL Draft? I was really excited, couldn't wait to start playing.

Describe your USHL experience so far? It has been great. I have been starting to get used to the speed and the style of the game.  I have learned a lot from Coach Poapst already. Teammates are great and my housing situation is perfect.

Was it a tough decision to come to the USHL or did you know right away that you wanted to play here? No, this is the best developmental league before college.  It was a no-brainer.

What about Miami University made it the school of choice for you? I could go on all day. There were a lot of little things. The biggest and I think the most important was the coaches. I felt the most comfortable with them and I think Coach Blasi is the best coach in college hockey. He has made Miami a top ten team every year.

What was your reaction when you were chosen in the 2007 NHL Draft? It was surreal. It was a great experience.  I'm not sure if it has even hit me yet.  I don't think about it too much. I know I have a long way to go and a lot of work to do.

What's one thing that nobody knows about you? That's a tough one.

What advice do you give to young players? Be respectful and get good grades in school.
