Peter Ferraro, shown here in a 1991 photo with the Dubuque Fighting Saints, scored two goals and assisted on three others in Wednesday's ECHL All-Star Game.
Peter Ferraro, a former USHL All-Star who was a two-year standout in the league with Dubuque and Waterloo, enjoyed a monster night Wednesday in the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game.
Ferraro was a starter and the team captain for National Conference All-Stars, who won the contest 10-7 over the American Conference in Stockton, Calif. Ferraro scored twice and assisted on three more goals in the game. He teamed with game MVP Ash Goldie to pace the National Conference.
Ferraro starred in the USHL in 1990-92. In 1990-91 he scored 21 goals and 52 points in just 29 games for the Dubuque Fighting Saints. That same year his twin brother, Chris, won the league scoring title with 97 points in 45 games. The following year the brothers finished first and second overall in league scoring. Peter scored 48 goals and 101 points in 42 games, while Chris scored 49 goals and 99 points in 39 games. The Ferraros started the 1991-92 season with Dubuque but were later traded to Waterloo, where they finished the season. Both brothers appeared in the 1992 USHL All-Star Game and Peter was the winner of the Ron Woodey Award as the game's most valuable player. Ferraro was also the USHL Forward of the Year and Player of the Year in 1991-92.
Also on Wednesday night, former Sioux Falls goaltender Kellen Briggs made 10 saves on 11 shots faced in his one period of action. Former Chicago Steel forward Travis Morin started the scoring for the night, getting the American Conference on the board first. Former Omaha defenseman Jason Dest, a late addition to the lineup for the National Conference, didn't get on the score sheet but did finish the game +3. Former Green Bay Gambler Andy Contois had a goal and an assist in the game as well.
The USHL is America's only Tier I league and the premier path for developing players in America.
