USA Wins Group; Advances to Olympic Quarterfinals

United States wins all three Group A games



A 5-1 victory over Slovenia was the third win in three games for the United States as they won Group A and earned a bye into quarterfinal action at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.



Joe Pavelski (Waterloo Black Hawks, 2002-04) assisted on all three goals of Phil Kessel's natural hat trick while David Backes (Lincoln Stars, 2001-03) of the St. Louis Blues also scored a goal for the United States.



T.J. Oshie (Sioux Falls Stampede, 2004-05) of the St. Louis Blues and Blake Wheeler (Green Bay Gamblers, 2004-05) of the Winnipeg Jets each recorded an assist in the victory for USA.



The United States returns to the ice on Wednesday for quarterfinal action.
