The Minnesota Wild have signed defenseman Gustav Olofsson to a three-year NHL entry-level contract that begins with the 2014-15 season.

Olofsson first appeared in the USHL during the 2011-12 season, recording one assist in three games with the Green Bay Gamblers.  He then played the entire 2012-13 season and racked up 23 points (2g, 21a) and posting a plus-11 rating over 63 regular season games for the Gamblers.  His first USHL goal was the game-winner in a 5-2 victory against the Muskegon Lumberjacks on November 23rd, 2012.  The defenseman was selected to compete in the 2013 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game and also earned a spot on the USHL All-Rookie Team.

Following his season in Green Bay, Olofsson was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the second round (46th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.  He spent this season playing NCAA hockey at Colorado College where he recorded eight points (4g, 4a) in 30 games at the school.  He was also named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team.

Olofsson also competed in international competition this winter, representing his native Sweden at the IIHF World Junior Championship.  He helped them win a silver medal and was tied for second among all defensemen in the tournament with five points (1g, 4a).
