Tom Marchin & Cooper Marody

Tom Marchin, F, Muskegon Lumberjacks

The 19-year-old recorded five points (4g, 1a) to lead the Lumberjacks to a pair of weekend victories against Team USA.  He scored a goal and dished out an assist in Friday’s 4-0 victory.  Marchin then tallied three goals, his first USHL career hat trick, in Saturday’s 4-2 win.  His second goal of the night proved to be the game-winner.  The Algonac, Michigan native is tied for second on the team in scoring with 22 points (12g, 10a) through 21 games, already surpassing his point total (6g, 12a) in 52 USHL games last season.  He is tied for fifth in the USHL with 12 goals.  It is the second full season in the League for the product of the Honeybaked youth organization.  He is committed to play college hockey at Brown University.

Cooper Marody, F, Sioux Falls Stampede

It was a wild week for the forward who produced five points (3g, 2a) to lead the Stampede to two road wins.  The 17-year-old was acquired via trade earlier in the week and then had a hand in all three goals (2g, 1a) during his Stampede debut, which included scoring the game-winner in Friday’s 3-2 victory against the Omaha Lancers.  He followed up with two points (1g, 1a) in Saturday’s 4-2 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers.  It is the second USHL season for Marody who previously played 72 career games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks.  The Brighton, Michigan native is a product of St. Mary’s Prep School.  He will return to his home state to play college hockey at the University of Michigan.  Marody is also a prospect for the 2015 NHL Draft.
