Darren Smith, Madison Capitols
The goaltender made 29 saves to lead the Capitols to a 2-1 victory over the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Saturday, helping the team snap a three-game winless skid (0-2-1). The victory gave him six wins over his last seven appearances on the road, posting a 1.58 goals-against-average and .944 save percentage over those victories. Smith currently ranks 10th among USHL goaltenders with nine wins this season and ranks 13th with a .909 save percentage. It is the first season in the USHL for the native of Barrie, Ontario who played for Pembroke (CCHL) prior to his time with the Capitols. He is committed to play college hockey at Ferris State University. It is the third time this season that he has earned weekly USHL honors.
