First impressions have been made coming into the November USHL Power Rankings, with all but three teams playing at least 10 games. 10 teams in the USHL find themselves at .500 or better, but it’s the Chicago Steel, not parity, grabbing headlines this season.
The Steel tied a USHL Tier 1 record with 10 consecutive wins to start a season. Chicago also leads the USHL in both offense (40 GF) and defense (13 GA), a recipe for success.
The usahockeymagazine.com Power Rankings have an eye on early starts and trends heading into a crucial month of the season. 21 media members ranked the teams from 1st to 17th, and the votes were compiled into an overall ranking. Power Rankings are decided on a monthly basis and will run until Clark Cup Playoffs. Listed below are the teams, their record and number of first place votes earned. The previous rankings listed are from the October USHL Power Rankings.
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 15th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2016-17. 30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in four consecutive NHL Drafts, and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
