Fargo Force defenseman Cody Haiskanen has committed to play college hockey for Cornell University.
Haiskanen is in his first season with Fargo. He is a mainstay on both the power play and penalty kill, which is the top PK unit in the USHL.
“I chose Cornell because of the high level of education I will be receiving alongside the strong tradition of hockey,” Haiskanen said. “Most importantly I feel very confident in the coaching staff in how they perceive my role as a part of their team.”
Prior to his time in the USHL, Haiskanen spent last season with the Portage Terriers (MJHL), scoring 27 points (4G, 23A) in 58 games. Fargo now has 20 Division 1 college commits on their roster.
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 15th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2016-17. 30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in four consecutive NHL Drafts, and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
