Green Bay edges Waterloo in OT, Des Moines defeats Sioux Falls, Lincoln knocks off Tri-City.

WATERLOO BLACK HAWKS [1] at GREEN BAY GAMBLERS [2] OT

 

After a scoreless first period, Green Bay's Dante Palecco opened the scoring with just over six minutes to play in the second. The Yale commit now has seven points (5G, 2A) in his last seven games and 25 total points (16G, 9A) on the season. The Gamblers held that 1-0 lead until Mikey Anderson tied the game early in the final frame to send the game to overtime. The University of Minnesota Duluth now has goals in back-to-back games. Late in the extra session, Chris Grando's eighth tally of the season gave Green Bay their third straight victory to move them just three points out of playoff position in the Eastern Conference standings. Connor Mackey dished out his 31st and 32nd assists of the season in the win, and Maksim Zhukov stopped 26 of the 27 shots he faced to move his record to 13-8-0-3.

DES MOINES BUCCANEERS [4] at SIOUX FALLS STAMPEDE [1]

 

The Buccaneers moved to 6-3-0-1 in their last 10 games with a 4-1 road victory over the Stampede in Sioux Falls. The first period remained scoreless until David Keefer started the scoring with just 1:24 left in the opening frame to give Des Moines a 1-0 lead. Chris Berger doubled the lead early in the second period, but Jaxon Nelson got Sioux Falls on the board seven minutes later to cut the lead to 2-1. Late in the second, Reed Lebster tallied his fourth goal in his last three games to extend the lead to 3-1, and Cameron Orchard added an empty-netter late in the third to complete the scoring and give the Buccaneers the 4-1 win. Berger also dished out a pair of assists, and Jan Ruzicka stopped 37 of 38 Stampede shots for his third straight victory between the pipes.

LINCOLN STARS [3] at TRI-CITY STORM [1]

 

Lincoln remains in a tie for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with a 3-1 road victory over the Tri-City Storm. Stars captain Dylan Woolf gave his team a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the game before recent Wisconsin commit Linus Weissbach scored for the sixth time in his last six games to tie the game at one. It remained a 1-1 game until late in the opening frame, when Luke Jaycox's first goal of the season made it 2-1 Lincoln. The Stars held that 2-1 advantage until Casey Dornbach sealed the victory with an empty-net goal late in the third period. Cayden Primeau earned his sixth victory in his last seven appearances with a 14-save performance.
