Fargo Force defenseman Lukas Kalble has committed to play college hockey at Lake Superior State University.

“We are extremely excited for Lukas to achieve his goal of earning a Division I scholarship,” said head coach Cary Eades. “He sacrificed a lot moving to a new continent this season and his dedication and work ethic have paid off.”

Kalble is a native of Mannheim, Germany and is playing in his first full season in the USHL. He has played in 24 games this year, tallying 14 points (4G, 10A).

“I chose LSSU because of their great tradition,” said Kalble. “It was a dream of mine to play college hockey for a couple of years now and I believe Lake State is the perfect fit for me to develop as a hockey player.”

Kalble previously played for Jungadler Mannehim in Germany and was a fifth round selection, 62nd overall by Fargo in the 2016 USHL Phase II Draft.

With Kalble’s commitment, all 24 players on Fargo’s roster are committed to a Division I school.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 15th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2016-17.  30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in four consecutive NHL Drafts,  and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
