Lincoln Stars defenseman Christian Evers has committed to play college hockey at the University of Vermont.
"I went on a visit a couple weeks ago and it felt like the perfect fit for me," Evers said. "They have a winning culture and I want to be a part of that."
The Waukee, IA ntive has 43 points (14G, 29A) and 135 penalty minutes in 151 career USHL games. The six-foot-two, 220-pound defenseman has 31 points (12G, 19A) through 100 games with Lincoln. He represented the Stars at the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, is a two-time CCM/USHL Defenseman of the Week and was named an alternate captain for the 2016-2017 season.
Prior to his time in Lincoln, Evers recorded 13 points in 51 games for Team USA (USHL). He also spent time with Omaha AAA (NAPHL).
With his announcement, Evers becomes the 22nd player on the Stars roster to commit to a Division I school.
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 15th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2016-17. 30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in four consecutive NHL Drafts, and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
