Chicago advanced to the Eastern Conference Final with a 2-0 shutout of the Youngstown Phantoms in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Following a scoreless first period where the Phantoms outshot the Steel 15-8, Chicago got on the board about 12 minutes into the middle frame, when Jack Badini scored his third goal of the series. Youngstown made a push for the remaining 28 minutes of play, as they outshot the Steel 40-27 in the game, but they weren't able to solve Ales Stezka, who stopped all 40 of those attempts for his second shutout in the series. Derek Daschke added an empty net goal late in the game to complete the scoring. This marks Chicago's first trip to the Eastern Conference Final since 2008.
