USHL players Jack Eichel (2014), Luke McInnis (2015) and Casey Mittelstadt (2016) won the All-American Prospects Game MVP award in each of the past three seasons. The USHL has also enjoyed a steady increase of player participation in the game, with 33 players named in 2015, 34 in 2016 and 38 players this season, in addition to two USHL alumni playing college hockey in 2017-18. Team USA leads all USHL teams with 15 players named to the game.

Of the 42 players named to the All-American Prospects Game, 40 players are currently committed or playing Division I college hockey. Top 2018 NHL Draft prospects Quinn Hughes and Brady Tkachuk will be playing with the University of Michigan and Boston University, respectively. Goaltender Jon Mor is currently uncommitted.

The game is also a benchmark for the recently revamped USHL Development Series, including the USHL Combine, USHL Los Angeles Showcase and USHL Buffalo Showcase. Three of the four goaltenders attended a USHL Combine: Ben KrawsJake Kucharski and Jon Mor. Defenseman Slava Demin attended the LA Kings/USHL Pacific Showcase, while defenseman Spencer Stastney attended the USHL Combine. Forwards Braden Costello and Paul Cotter also attended the USHL Combine, while Blake McLaughlin was expected to attend but was unable to participate. McLaughlin joined the Chicago Steel roster near the end of last season and raised the Clark Cup alongside fellow All-American Prospects Game defenseman and Steel teammate Alec Regula.

24 players from last year’s game were selected in the 2017 NHL Draft, including the Buffalo Sabres selecting Mittelstadt eighth overall.
