The United States Hockey League announced the Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Week for Week 4 of the 2017-18 season. Fargo Force forward Griffin Loughran and Dubuque Fighting Saints defenseman Brendan Bushy earned their first USHL weekly honors, while Madison Capitols goaltender Dryden McKay picked up his third career USHL Goaltender of the Week award. Loughran recorded seven points over the weekend, including a six-point night on Saturday, Bushy scored a goal in both of Dubuque's games over the weekend to help the Fighting Saints to a pair of wins and McKay led Madison to a victory on Saturday by stopping all but one of the 50 shots he faced. The USHL is America’s only Tier 1 junior hockey league, and continues to lead the world in the advancement of Division I college hockey athletes.

Forward: Griffin Loughran - Fargo Force

2 GP: 4 goals, 3 assists, +1 rating

Loughran exploded for seven points in two games for Fargo over the weekend. He scored the opening goal of the game on Friday night as he helped the Force to a 3-1 victory in Waterloo. The Northern Michigan commit followed that up with an even more impressive performance, scoring a hat trick and dishing out three assists in Fargo's 6-5 victory in Des Moines on Saturday. Loughran is now one of five players tied for the USHL lead in scoring with 10 points (4G, 6A) and has been a big reason for Fargo's four-game winning streak. He has recorded at least one point in four of his last five games, with nine points (4G, 5A) in that span. Loughran played nine games for the Youngstown Phantoms in 2016-17, tallying two points (1G, 1A) in nine games. Prior to his USHL career, the West Seneca, NY played for the Corpus Christi Ice Rays (NAHL) and Buffalo Jr. Sabres (T1EHL). He was selected in the 14th round, 222nd overall by Fargo in the 2017 USHL Phase II Draft.

Defenseman: Brendan Bushy

2 GP: 2 goals, 0 assists, +4 rating

Bushy picked up his first two points of the season over the weekend, scoring a goal both Friday and Saturday to help the Dubuque Fighting Saints to a weekend sweep of the Central Illinois Flying Aces. He has been a solid player on both ends of the ice early in the season, as the St. Cloud State commit has a +3 rating and a game-winning goal, scored on Saturday, on the season. Bushy is in his second USHL season and played in 58 games for the Fighting Saints in 2016-17, recording 12 points (2G, 10A). He also suited up for eight Clark Cup Playoffs contests last year and picked up one assist. He was selected in the 15th round, 244th overall by Dubuque in the 2016 USHL Phase II Draft and previously played for Thief River Falls High (USHS).

Goaltender: Dryden McKay - Madison Capitols

1-0-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .980 SV%

McKay started Madison's game on Saturday night against Waterloo and stole the show, facing 50 Black Hawks shots and allowing only one goal as the Capitols cruised to a 5-1 victory. He is now 3-3-0-0 on the season. It has been a busy year for the Minnesota State commit, as he has faced more than 20 shots in five of his six appearances and 25 or more shots three times. He has also allowed two goals or fewer in three of his six appearances. This is McKay's third career weekly award, as he was named USHL Goaltender of the Week on Jan. 9, 2017 and Jan. 23, 2017. He previously played for the Green Bay Gamblers (USHL), Corpus Christi Ice Rays (NAHL), Springfield Jr. Blues (NAHL) and Chicago Young Americans (HPHL).

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 16th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2017-18. 30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in five consecutive NHL Drafts, and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
