Fargo Force defenseman Brian Hurley has committed to play college hockey at Clarkson University at the end of his junior hockey career.

Hurley, a Dellwood, MN native, is playing in his second USHL season with the Force after spending a year in the NAHL with the Minnesota Wilderness. The 19-year-old has 25 points (8-17-25) in 76 career USHL games.

In 36 games with the Force this season, Hurley has scored 14 points (4-10-14). The defender has four points (0-4-4) in his last five games.

“I chose Clarkson for many reasons,” Hurley said. “During my visit, the coaching staff showed me firsthand how amazing the hockey culture is at Clarkson and why they have been consistently one of the top ranked hockey teams in the nation. Education has been always been important, and at Clarkson I get the opportunity to not only receive a great education but also further my hockey career. I am looking forward to starting my college journey at Clarkson next fall.”

Hurley was selected by Fargo in the 11th round, 168th overall of the 2014 USHL Phase II Draft.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 16th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2017-18. 30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in five consecutive NHL Drafts, and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
