Despite not scoring a first period goal yet this season, the Stars have proven to be a tough opponent who can close games at home or on the road. Led by veteran forwards Mike Gillespie and Ethen Frank, the Stars may be able to get scoring throughout their lineup. That scoring could come from first year NHL Draft eligible forward Dominick Mersch. Both goaltenders Cayden Primeau and Josef Korenar have picked up wins on the season, with Primeau leading the way with a 2.53 GAA and .925 SV%. The defensive corps is perfectly split between three rookies and three USHL veterans, with Carter Long joining as a first-year USHL player after three years at Selects Hockey Academy (USPHL). Lincoln enters the weekend with a two-game win streak and looks to build on it with two of their three upcoming games coming at home.

Could this be the year Team USA pushes for a Clark Cup Playoffs appearance? The U17 squad opened the season with a 7-2 win, while the U18 team won 5-3 at home. Team USA led all USHL teams with 18 players named to the NHL Central Scouting Preliminary List and will attract NHL scouts to USA Hockey Arena throughout the season. Rookie Joel Farabee got off to a quick start to the season with five points in three games, while veterans Josh Norris and Evan Barratt had an impressive game against Youngstown last week.
