Sioux Falls earned at least one point in six of their 10 games in January and sit just a game under the .500 mark heading into the second month of 2017. Austin Albrecht remains the team’s leader in scoring with 32 points (5G, 27A), tied for ninth in the USHL. He is also third in the league with those 27 assists. Jason O’Neill and Paul DeNaples continue to make the most of their opportunities, as they are one and two among all USHL players in shooting percentage. O’Neill has converted on 27.6% of his shots, while 25% of DeNaples’ opportunities have found the back of the net. The Winnipeg Jets have to be happy with the way goaltending prospect Mikhail Berdin is playing between the pipes for the Stampede, as he is tied for third among all USHL goaltenders in SV% (.923).

The Thunder are led by a strong group of veteran players, and they will look to lead the team into playoff position in the final two months of the regular season. Calgary Flames prospect Mitchell Mattson finished with four points on the weekend, including a three-point (2G, 1A) performance on Sunday against Team USA, and he has now tallied 10 points in his last 8 games. Vladislav Dzhioshvili also picked up a goal on Saturday, and the Vermont commit now has 12 points (5G, 7A) in his last 13 games. Gabriel Mollot-Hill has continued to play well between the pipes, as he is sixth in the USHL in SV% (.921) and seventh in GAA (2.28). Bloomington will play six of their eight games on the road in February as they look to climb back into the Eastern Conference playoff conversation.
