The United States Hockey League (USHL) announced Wednesday the Players of the Week for Week 7 of the 2020-21 season. The USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) took home both Forward and Defenseman of the Week as Sasha Pastujov and Luke Hughes had great performances, respectively, while Aaron Randazzo’s great week between the pipes earned the Green Bay Gamblers netminder the Goaltender of the Week award.

Pastujov’s first performances of the USHL season did not disappoint. The University of Notre Dame commit racked up seven points (6-1-7) in a trio of games this week, including a hat trick (3-0-3) in a 4-1 Friday night win. Pastujov, who was named an A-rated skater by NHL Central Scouting ahead of the 2021 NHL Draft, is in his Under-18 season with the NTDP this season after recording 26 points (9-17-26) in 29 games last season. The Compuware product had two point streaks of three games or more in the league last season but Friday’s hat trick was the first of his USHL career.

Hughes, a fellow A-rated skater on NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary List, also had a big week on the stat sheet, contributing five points (1-4-5) in three games. The University of Michigan commit registered an assist on a pair of Pastujov’s goals in the Friday night win and picked up another late in the contest for a three-point night (0-3-3). Hughes has six points (2-4-6) in five games this season with the NTDP, including points in four of the five contests so far. The defenseman’s current three-game point streak is a USHL career high as was Friday night’s three-point performance.

Green Bay went a perfect 3-0 last week with a pair of their wins coming off the back of great goalie performances from St. Cloud State University commit Randazzo. The Alexandria, Min. native has been nearly perfect in his return to the league this season and his 0.948 save percentage and 1.50 goals against average last week were no exception. Randazzo allowed only three goals on a combined 58 shots last week and currently leads the USHL in both netminding categories (0.951 / 1.70). The Notre Dame Hounds product is a perfect 3-0-0-0 this season in four performances after returning to the USHL after appearing in 22 games with the Dubuque Fighting Saints during the 2018-19 season. Randazzo was named Goaltender of the Week once during his season in Dubuque.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the 2020-21 season will be the USHL's 19th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league. The USHL had 51 players selected at the 2020 NHL Draft, marking the third-straight season with 50-or-more USHL players selected in the Draft. More than 800 league alumni are currently on NCAA Division I rosters, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
