Black Hawks Alum Inks NHL Contract

The Dallas Stars have signed USHL alum Alex Guptill to a two-year NHL entry-level contract following three seasons playing at the collegiate level.

Guptill joined the Waterloo Black Hawks after the Stars selected him in the third round (77th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.  He recorded 25 points (13g, 12a) in 43 games during the 2010-11 regular season for Waterloo.  In his fourth USHL contest, he netted two goals in the 6-4 loss to the Dubuque Fighting Saints on October 16th, 2010.  It was one of four multi-goal games that season for the forward.

The native of Newmarket, Ontario went on to play NCAA hockey at the University of Michigan and totaled 94 points (44g, 50a) in 110 career games over his three-year career at the school.  He led the Wolverines in scoring each of his first two seasons.  Guptill put up 25 points (12g, 13a) in 31 games this season on the way to earning Honorable Mention All-Big Ten.
