Dubuque Fighting Saints forward Ryan Stevens has committed to play college hockey at Arizona State University beginning next season.
Stevens has recorded four points (2g, 2a) and 78 penalty minutes over 20 games this season for the Saints. He netted his first USHL goal in the 5-3 win against the Bloomington Thunder on November 8th. The 20-year-old came to Dubuque after being selected in Phase Two of the 2014 USHL Draft.
The Colleyville, Texas native played youth hockey in the Dallas Stars AAA organization and spent last season in the NAHL before his time in the USHL.
Stevens is the first USHL player to commit to Arizona State University since the school announced last month that it would become a Division 1 hockey program beginning with the 2016-17 season. Its hockey program currently competes in the ACHA and won the 2014 national championship.
