Darren Smith, Madison Capitols
The goaltender stopped all 21 shots he faced for Madison in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over the Green Bay Gamblers. It was the first shutout of the inaugural season for the Capitols, which included turning away all three power play chances for the Gamblers. Smith’s performance extended the team’s road winning streak to five straight contests, and he has been in net for all five victories, posting a 1.70 goals-against-average and .939 save percentage over that span. The 19-year-old has won eight total games this season for the Capitols and is currently tied for 10th among USHL goaltenders with a .909 SV%. The Barrie, Ontario native played for Pembroke in the CCHL prior to his time in the USHL and will play college hockey at Ferris State University.
