Hayden Shaw, Dubuque Fighting Saints
The defenseman had a four-point weekend (1g, 3a) in helping the Saints earn a pair of victories. He scored a goal in Friday’s 3-2 victory over Team USA’s Under-17 squad, his first goal since being acquired by Dubuque earlier in the month. Shaw then equaled a USHL career high by dishing out three assists in Saturday’s 4-2 win against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. He is averaging just shy of a point per game with 35 points (3g, 32a) over 39 games this season. He is tied for fifth in scoring among League defensemen and is second in assists. The 18-year-old product of Woodbury High School in Minnesota is committed to the University of North Dakota.
Chad Krys, Team USA
The 16-year-old defenseman was part of Team USA’s weekend sweep of the Lincoln Stars, recording four points (1g, 3a) and posting a plus-seven rating. He dished out two assists in Friday’s 11-3 win and finished the night with a plus-six rating to equal a season high for a USHL player. Krys followed up with two points (1g, 1a) in Saturday’s 8-0 win. He has split time between Team USA’s Under-17 and Under-18 squads this season, totaling 26 points (4g, 22a) and a plus-15 rating over 33 USHL contests. The native of Ridgefield, Connecticut is a product of the Connecticut Oilers youth program and spent last year with the New Jersey Rockets before coming to Team USA.
