Fargo and Bloomington win crucial games, Adam Huska wins his 20th of the year and Cedar Rapids continues to lead the league.




Ben Blacker and the RoughRiders won their fifth consecutive win. Blacker stopped 21 of 23 shots in the win. Defenseman Jack Ahcan and forward Ross Colton each tallied goals. Colton, who also added an assist, scored his 27th goal of the year and now has 53 points in 43 games. Ahcan leads all USHL defensemen with 36 points in 44 games after scoring 11 goals. Sam Sternschein added two assists to his season total.


11 different Gamblers scored for Green Bay in a 4-1 win, while goaltender Adam Huska stopped 21 of 22 shots for his 20th win of the year. The New York Rangers prospect currently has a USHL-best .933 SV% and 1.82 GAA. Jared Spooner scored a goal and assist to lead the Green Bay offense, while Nick Poehling scored his 12th goal of the year on a one-timer. Gamblers captain Sam Saliba dished out an assist for his 41st point in 46 games. Defenseman Andrew Peeke also picked up an assist for his 21st point this season. Peeke was ranked 50th on NHL Central Scouting’s January list, and has scored five points in his last 10 games from the blueline.


Jake Kielly earned his fourth shutout and 18th win this season after stopping all 26 shots he faced. The Eden Prairie, MN native has a .928 SV% and 2.19 GAA, both ranked second in the USHL this season. Wade Allison scored his 22nd goal of the year, a coast-to-coast power play tally. Allison has 23 points and nine goals since being awarded USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game MVP on January 12th. Forward Dan Labosky scored his ninth goal of the year on seven shots in the game. Tri-City remains first in the Western Conference.


13 different Stars scored in a 6-3 win. Collin Peters, Ludvig Hoff, Ryan Jones and Biagio Lerario all turned in multi-point nights. Tanner Laczynski added an assist, and now both Laczynski and Hoff are both in the top-five in USHL scoring. 2015 USHL Phase I Draft first overall pick Ryan Poehling scored his first point in his USHL debut with Lincoln. The Lakeville North product finished the night with a +2 rating. Goaltender Patrik Virtanen earned his 14th win in net.


Hayden Lavigne and the Bloomington Thunder won their fourth consecutive game, an important win to continue the stranglehold on the fourth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Lavigne has allowed one goal or fewer in each of the five wins. Logan Lambdin scored twice and added an assist to lead the Thunder offense, while Tarek Baker dished out four assists. Baker and Lambdin are the top two scorers for Bloomington. Defenseman Jeremy Davies dished out two assists and is now one point shy of the USHL lead in scoring by defensemen.


After going down 1-0, the Fargo Force battled back for a 2-1 win. Goaltender Ryan Wischow stopped 23 of 24 shots, while Robbie Beydoun stepped in with two saves of his own in the win. Denis Smirnov scored his 22nd goal of the year and 49th point in 46 games. Newly acquired defenseman Tommy Muck was credited with an assist in his first game with the Fargo Force. Fargo is now one point shy of third and fourth place in the tightly contested Western Conference.


Mitchell Smith played overtime hero for the Dubuque Fighting Saints, scoring with seven second remaining in the extra frame. Michael O’Leary scored a goal and assist for his third multi-point game. O’Leary now has 24 points this season. Brett Boeing dished out two assists. The Barrington, IL native has 11 points in 19 games since rejoining Dubuque. Goaltender Hunter Miska picked up his 26th win of the year after stopping 22 of 24 shots, including three in overtime.


Four different players tallied two-point nights for the Youngstown Phantoms. Defensemen Luke McInnis and Vas Kolias each tallied a goal and assist, while forwards Jason Cotton and Yushiro Hirano were credited with two points apiece. Florida Panthers goaltending prospect Ryan Bednard stopped 21 of 23 shots for his 15th win of the year. Rookie Cameron Morrison continues to lead all USHL rookies with 50 points in 48 games after dishing out his 24th assists on the year.
