CCM Players of the Week: Week 26

Dallas Stars prospect Matej Paulovic wins his first weekly award, while defenseman Jeremy Davies and Ben Blacker repeat as weekly honor recipients.


The United States Hockey League announced the CCM Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Week for Week 26 of the 2015-16 season. Dallas Stars prospect Matej Paulovic won his first weekly honor this season after a five-goal weekend, while USHL defensemen scoring leader Jeremy Davies earned his second recognition. Goaltender Ben Blacker picked up his fourth weekly award after becoming the first goaltender to reach 30 wins since the 2012-13 season. CCM Hockey is the official equipment partner of the USHL.



Forward: Matej Paulovic – Muskegon Lumberjacks

3 games: 5 goals, 3 assists, +3 rating


Paulovic scored goals in three consecutive games, including two multi-goal games. Paulovic scored twice and dished out two assists for four points Thursday night. The Dallas Stars prospect followed up the performance with a goal and assist Friday, including his third game-winning goal this season. The Topolcany, SVK native finished the weekend with two more goals Saturday, his 14th multi-point game. Paulovic recently became the all-time scoring leader for the Muskegon Lumberjacks with 110 points. Paulovic was selected in the 2013 NHL Draft by the Dallas Stars in the 5th round, 149th overall. Paulovic joined the Muskegon Lumberjacks the next season, and is currently playing in his third USHL season. After scoring 50 points in 51 games last year, Paulovic has 44 points in 42 games in 2015-16. Paulovic is currently third in team scoring behind linemates Rem Pitlick and Collin Adams.



Defenseman: Jeremy Davies – Bloomington Thunder

3 games: 0 goals, 5 assists, Even rating


Davies dished out five assists over the weekend, and now leads all USHL defensemen in scoring with 43 points. Davies compiled a three-game point streak, including back-to-back multi-point games to help Bloomington to a 2-1-0-0 weekend. The Pointe-Claire, QC native has 13 goals and 30 assists one year after producing 24 points in 54 games. The Northeastern University commit was selected by the Waterloo Black Hawks in the 2014 USHL Phase II Draft in the 13th round, 215th overall. Davies has played for the Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL) and Lac St-Louis Lions (QMAAA) previous to joining the Bloomington Thunder.



Goaltender: Ben Blacker – Cedar Rapids RoughRiders

2-0-1-0, 1.65 GAA, .947 SV%


Blacker became the first USHL goaltender to reach 30 wins this season after going 2-0-1-0 on the weekend. Blacker is the first goaltender since Charlie Lindgren (Sioux Falls Stampede) in 2012-13 to win 30 games in a year. Both wins came with one goal against, and helped the RoughRiders maintain their first-place position in the Eastern Conference. Blacker improved his record to 16-6-2-1 when facing 30+ shots in a game this season, and is 31-11-2-2 overall. Blacker is playing in his second USHL season after going 24-11-0-2 with a 2.73 GAA and .913 SV% last year. The Western Michigan University commit was selected by the Indiana Ice in the 2013 USHL Phase I Draft in the 4th round, 46th overall and previously played for the Milton Icehawks (OJHL) and Brampton 45’s Midget AAA.


Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 14th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2015-16.  A record 37 players were chosen in the 2015 NHL Draft and more than 375 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
