The Fighting Saints took a 2-1 series lead on home ice after a decisive 6-1 win. Dubuque had four different goal scorers, with defenseman Keegan Ford leading the way with a four-point night. Goaltender Hunter Miska shut the door on the Gamblers to help complete the win.
Ford and Nathan Sucese opened the scoring for Dubuque with first period goals less than two minutes apart. Green Bay would respond in the second period on a Jason Dhooghe goal, but that would be the only goal Miska would allow on 29 shots. Evan Smith scored back-to-back goals, his first and second of Clark Cup Playoffs, to put the Fighting Saints up 4-1. Dubuque would go on to score two empty net goals.
Miska and the Fighting Saints penalty killed stopped all four Green Bay opportunities, while the power play unit added a goal on two chances. The two teams will return to action Saturday night, with Dubuque looking to take the series on home ice.
