The Dubuque Fighting Saints outscored the Bloomington Thunder 6-4 at US Cellular Coliseum on Friday night to take a 2-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference Final.
The Saints saw six different players light the lamp in the win: Shane Kavanagh, Mitchell Smith, Michael O'Leary, Keegan Ford, Joey Keane and Nathan Sucese. Sucese and Brett Boeing added two assists each, and Hunter Miska stopped 38 of 42 shots to give Dubuque the series lead. Rookie defenseman Keane was credited with the game-winning goal with a laser from the blue line halfway through the third period.
Dubuque was two for four on the man advantage in the game, and they lead all teams in the playoffs with a fantastic 34.6% conversion rate on the power play. The Fighting Saints will look to advance to the Clark Cup Final and win the series on Saturday night.
