USA Hockey announced today the 22-player roster for its 2016 U.S. National Under-17 Team, which will compete at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge from Oct. 27-Nov. 5 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

The roster includes 20 full-time members of the 2016-17 U.S. National Under-17 Team, part of USA Hockey's National Team Development Program based in Plymouth, Michigan, and two players from the Lincoln Stars and Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League, respectively.

Jacob Semik has played in eight games with the Dubuque Fighting Saints, and has scored two goals including an overtime game-winner. Dubuque selected Semik in the 2016 USHL Phase I Draft in the 1st round, 14th overall. Semik is committed to the University of Michigan and previously played for HoneyBaked (HPHL).

Christian Krygier has played in nine games with the Lincoln Stars this season. Krygier was the first player to sign a tender contract in team history prior to the 2016 USHL Phase I Draft. Krygier is committed to the University of Wisconsin and previously played for Little Caesars (HPHL).

The U.S. has played in five of the last seven title matches in this event, and has earned first place four times (2001, 2002, 2010, January 2014). Team USA had nine consecutive top-three finishes, stretching from 2006-14 (no event was held in 2007).

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 15th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2016-17.  30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in four consecutive NHL Drafts,  and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
