Justin Richards has committed to play college hockey at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
"On my visit there, just hanging out with the guys, I felt like I really belonged there," Richards said. "I used to live in Minnesota and it just reminded me of what it was like to live there. They're ranked No. 1 in the nation right now so they're a good program, a good team and are producing players every year. I really liked the enthusiasm and drive of the coaching staff."
Richards has seven points through 20 games in his first USHL season. He is a native of Columbus, OH and previously played for the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets (T1EHL).
With the announcement, Lincoln now has 20 Division 1 college commits on their roster.
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 15th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2016-17. 30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in four consecutive NHL Drafts, and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
