Fargo Force forward Shane McMahan has committed to play for Minnesota State University, Mankato following his time in the USHL.
A native of Lakewood, CO, McMahan is in his third season with Fargo. McMahan is having his best season with the Force this year, tallying 15 points in 21 games in addition to sporting a +4 rating. Last season, McMahan suited up in all but one game for Fargo, scoring 14 points in 59 games.
“Mankato is a great program,” McMahan said. “They are a contender every year and I fit in well with their system and style of play.”
Prior to playing in the USHL, McMahan played for the Aston Rebels (NAHL), Los Angeles Jr. Kings (T1EHL) and Anaheim Jr. Ducks (NAPHL). McMahan is the 21st player on this year’s Force roster to commit to play college hockey at the Division I level.
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 15th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2016-17. 30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in four consecutive NHL Drafts, and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
