A shorthanded goal from Matt Hudie and a power play tally courtesy of Kobe Roth gave Des Moines a 2-0 lead through 20 minutes of play. The Buccaneers extend their lead to 5-0 in the second period thanks to Isaac Johnson's 10th goal of the season and a pair of tallies from Julian Napravnik. Despite third period goals from Vladislav Dzhioshvili and Mitchell Mattson, Bloomington could only close the gap to 5-2, as Colin Ugbekile completed the scoring with his fourth goal of the season, giving the Buccaneers a 6-2 win and their sixth straight victory. Matt Jones dished out three assists, Mario Ferraro added a pair of helpers, and Nick MacNab picked up his 10th win of the season between the pipes with a 30-save performance.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 15th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2016-17.  30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in four consecutive NHL Drafts,  and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
