Following a scoreless opening period between the RoughRiders and Lancers, Robert Arrak opened the scoring eight and a half minutes into the middle frame with his second goal of the season. It remained a 1-0 Cedar Rapids lead until early in the third, when Jason Polin picked up his eighth of the year just 33 seconds into the final 20 minutes. Dalton Messina moved to double-digits in goals on the year with an empty-net tally late in the game to complete the scoring and give the RoughRiders the 3-0 victory. Marc McLaughlin dished out two assists in the win, and Drew DeRidder stopped all 23 Omaha shots he faced for his ninth victory and second shutout of the season.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 15th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2016-17.  30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in four consecutive NHL Drafts,  and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
