Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward Josh Bohlin announced his commitment to the University of Wisconsin.

Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward Josh Bohlin announced his commitment to play college hockey at the University of Wisconsin following his junior hockey career. Bohlin, a Wausau, WI native, is currently in his first USHL season.

“I don’t think it was a very hard decision to be honest,” said Bohlin. “It was pretty easy just because of the coaching staff and resources there. They have a great program and they’re moving in the right direction.”

The rookie center was selected by Cedar Rapids in the 2017 USHL Phase II Draft in the ninth round, 132nd overall. Bohlin scored 46 points (28-18—46) in 24 games for Wausau West High School last season. He also played for Team Wisconsin throughout the season.

“It’s a great accomplishment for Josh to commit to the University of Wisconsin,” said RoughRiders head coach and general manager Mark Carlson. “To go to school and play hockey in the state he grew up in will be very exciting for him and his family.”

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 16th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2017-18. 30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in five consecutive NHL Drafts, and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
