Omaha Lancers affiliate Josh Groll announced his commitment to play college hockey at the University of Michigan.

“It means a lot to have committed to a school with so much tradition and pride,” Groll said. “Michigan liked the intense, physical and smart side of my game, which is what helped them notice me the most.”

Groll, a native of San Diego, CA spent the last two years with the San Diego Gulls (15U and 16U). Groll currently plays for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U team in the T1EHL. The left-shot forward has played 12 games this season with 24 points (11G, 13A). Groll was selected in the 2017 USHL Phase II Draft in the 14th round, 215th overall after competing in the 2017 USHL Pacific Showcase hosted by the Los Angeles Kings.

“I’m very excited to have the great opportunities that are coming up in the near future and can’t wait to see what happens.”

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 16th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2017-18. 30 or more players from the USHL have been selected in five consecutive NHL Drafts, and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
