Des Moines Buccaneers defenseman Mike Kesselring has committed to Northeastern University of the Hockey East Conference.
“It’s a dream come true,” Kesselring said. “It’s always been a dream of mine to compete in the Beanpot Tournament. I believe in their coaching staff and I feel they can develop me into an NHL defenseman.”
The New Hampton, NH native played 12 games for the Buccaneers at the end of last season and will return this year for his first full season with Des Moines. He was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the 6th round, 164th overall at the 2018 NHL Draft.
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 17th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2018-19. The USHL had a record 45 players selected at the 2018 NHL Draft, more than any junior league in the world, and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
