Below is a recap and box score from Sunday's USHL games:
The Omaha Lancers picked up their fifth straight victory with a 2-1 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers at Ralston Arena on Sunday night. The Lancers picked up the only goal of the opening period, a Tyler Carpenter power play tally just under 11 minutes into the game, and took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. It remained a 1-0 until the visitors evened the proceedings at 8:27 of the middle frame, courtesy of Reed Lebster's 20th goal of the season. Just under three minutes later, Cameron Berg scored the eventual game-winning goal, as he buried a breakway opportunity after a long pass from Austen Long. The Lancers hung on for the remaining 29 minutes of play to earn the 2-1 win, their fifth consecutive victory. Jon Mor moved to 2-0 against Des Moines this season while wearing an Omaha uniform, as he stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced.
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 17th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2018-19. The USHL had a record 45 players selected at the 2018 NHL Draft, more than any junior league in the world, and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
