Below is a recap and highlights of Monday's USHL games:
The Dubuque Fighting Saints held off a late Madison flurry and picked up a 5-4 road victory over the Capitols at Bob Suter Capitol Ice Arena on Monday night. Madison jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 1:17 into the game, thanks to a beautiful Noah Weber goal. Bram Scheerer responded just over three minutes later to tie the game, and Dylan Jackson finished off a great play from Riese Gaber midway through the frame, giving the Saints a 2-1 lead through 20 minutes of play. Dubuque then scored three times in the second period, courtesy of Matias Maccelli, Scheerer and Willie Knierim, and with with a Lucas Herrmann tally, the teams headed to the second intermission with Dubuque up 5-2. Madison scored twice in the final frame off the sticks of Anthony Stark and Kalle Eriksson, but Dubuque was able to hang on for the 5-4 victory. Vancouver Canucks prospect Matthew Thiessen picked up the win between the pipes with a 15-save performance.
